Presentation
Located on the historic route to Santiago de Compostela or Cami Romieux, the fortified village of Gigean is full of surprises. Lose yourself in the historic heart, discovering the ramparts and medieval gates of Gigean. Admire the restored façade of the Saint-Géniès church and its bell tower, the Penitents' chapel or one of the three studia created in Languedoc by Pope Urban V (14th century).
Then head towards the Gardiole massif, towards the beautiful Saint-Félix-de-Montceau abbey. Perched on its promontory, you can enjoy a sublime view of the Etang de Thau. Don't hesitate to take a walk in the ruins of the old abbey and its gardens. Enthusiasts have brought the site back to life and offer guided tours.
After a picnic in the shade of the pines (tables are available), start one of the many hiking trails on the magnificent Gardiole massif. On foot, by bike or even on a donkey! Discover the surrounding nature, the highest point of which is the Roc d'Anduze at 234m. The panoramic views are breathtaking over the Montpellier plain or the Thau basin and on a clear day you can even see the Canigou or the Mont Ventoux.
