Itineraries
Rich in tracks, the Archipel de Thau will make the happiness of the amateurs of bicycle who will be able to escape along the lagoon and the Mediterranean sea, but also along the Canal du Midi, the Via Rhôna and everywhere in the department.
On site, you will find several bike rental companies and you can also go to one of our "Accueil Vélo" offices for advice and assistance. So get on your bike and spend a few hours on one of these routes:
- The green way :
To discover the Archipel de Thau at your own pace, take the greenway which criss-crosses the lido between Marseillan and Sète, but also the various communes of the destination.

- Sète > Frontignan > Vic-la-Gardiole :
Located on 2 European cycling routes: route 8, named "La Méditerranée à vélo" and route 17 "Via Rhôna", this 15 km itinerary invites you to discover exceptional landscapes between beaches and ponds.

- Marseillan > Mèze :
Ride along the Thau lagoon and the Canal du Midi before crossing the marshes and vineyards. On part of this section, you will cross the Soupié meadows, a Natura 2000 site, on a wooden platform with the greatest respect for the environment and wildlife.

- Mèze > Balaruc-le-Vieux :
Take the old railway line and walk along the north shore of the Thau lagoon, with, on the way, some nice surprises like the Angle creek (protected natural area) where you will come close to many birds.

- The Hérault department :
If you can see further than the Thau Archipelago, we suggest that you explore the whole of the Hérault department on your cycling holiday thanks to this map and its many cycling routes. You will be able to satisfy your desire for wine tourism for example or for a family outing.
- The Mediterranean by bike :
To enjoy a cycling holiday under the Mediterranean sun, you should spend your holidays on the "Mediterranean" itinerary and more particularly on the following stages:
- 15 : Agde > Marseillan (9km)
- 16 : Marseillan > Sète (14 km)
- 17 : Sète > Frontignan-Plage (14 km)
- 18 : Frontignan-Plage > Villeneuve-Lès-Maguelone (7 km)

- The canal du Midi by bike from Somail to Sète :
To discover the last sketches of the Canal du Midi before it melts into the Thau basin at the end of the Onglous lighthouse, this is the route from Agde that we suggest you take. You can then take the Lido greenway from Marseillan-Plage and enjoy the view over the Mediterranean Sea as far as Sète.

- Via Rhôna from Avignon to Sète :
From Palavas-les-Flots, near Montpellier, this route will allow you to meander between the lagoons and beaches of the Mediterranean. A tasting of shellfish accompanied by a Muscat de Frontignan will be the reward of this last stage of the Via Rhôna. The arrival at the port of Sète, on the edge of the Thau basin, will mark the end of your escapade.
