Presentation

The Saint-Hippolyte chapel is a Romanesque building dating from the second half of the 12th century. Its façade shows signs of the reuse of older architectural elements. After it was built, its apse was finished off with crenellations for defensive purposes. The building is covered by a single barrel vault. The capitals are a rare example of Romanesque sculpture in the Pays de Thau. The building has undergone a number of clearly visible alterations over time. It has, however, retained its original choir cover: a semi-dome made from small rectangular blocks arranged in a herringbone pattern. Exhibitions and concerts are held in this building every year.
