Welcome to Escale à Sète, the first celebration of Mediterranean maritime traditions.

An international event for all audiences, essentially free of charge, a week of highlights, meetings and conviviality to safeguard the maritime and river heritage. Free, accessible, Escale à Sète welcomes all generations on 3 km of quays in the heart of the Venice of Occitany.

Exceptional gathering of heritage boats from yesterday and today in the Mediterranean

120 historic ships: boat tours, sea parades, naval battles, shows and water sports competitions.
In the heart of the city, discover the world's tallest sailboats, replicas of historic sailboats, workboats of yesterday and today, luxury yachts, an armada of Latin sails, barges, steamers, traditional jousting and rowing boats.

A major festival in Europe for marine music and song

More than 40 international music and song groups related to the work of fishermen, sailors, coopers, dockworkers, carpenters... showing the full diversity of seafarers' culture.
These groups meet the public on the docks, in bars, on board boats, and perform on stage. Their repertoire is essentially based on collections of traditional music and songs. Mediterranean music and maritime songs naturally occupy a prominent place. A large part of the musical programme is offered without sound system, to facilitate the exchange with the public and thus allow visitors to be actors of the festival.
Taverns, boats and quays are ideal places to discover the groups of Escale à Sète at random and to appreciate the spirit of this event.

Entertainments

Much more than a simple spectator, the visitor to Escale à Sète is one of the actors of the festival!

Among which: maritime games for children and "grown-ups", demonstrations and initiations by the Rouleurs de Barriques, shipbuilding workshops, initiations to traditional rowing or cart games, historical reconstructions dedicated to the old port trades...
