Presentation

Viticulture was established there as early as the Roman period. From the 18th to the 19th century, the town developed thanks to the storage and export of Languedoc wines.

Today, Mèze is still a fishing port and the largest marina in the bassin de Thau. It is an active town, renowned for shellfish farming. “Le Mourre Blanc” is the number one Mediterranean shellfish port.
With its restaurants on the port, its. lively market, the traditional architecture of its winegrowers’ houses, Penitents’ chapel, and the Château de Girard, you will go from discovery to discovery.

The beaches of Mèze, although smaller than those on the coast, are great for bathing in warmer water, which is less deep than the sea. In the summer, Languedoc jousting, tamburello, Saint-Pierre festival, and numerous sporting and nautical activities make it a dynamic and pleasant place to visit.

The Thau Festival and its musical ports of call are also worth discovering in July, as well as the big local festival with the release of the ox and little horse in August.
